The Dreamscape Universe of An Aspiring Scribe

"One describes a tale best by telling the tale. You see? The way one describes a story, to oneself or to the world, is by telling the story. It is a balancing act and it is a dream. The more accurate the map, the more it resembles the territory. The most accurate map possible would be the territory, and thus would be perfectly accurate and perfectly useless. The tale is the map that is the territory." --Neil Gaiman, 'American Gods'

In General

Well, I finally got it. Not the job, though I am going to try again. I mean a camera, from a guy on Craig's List.

A VERY nice Canon AE-1 with Vivitar flash, 50mm lens and shade, skylight and polarizing filters, a little instrument for clicking the shutter without looking through the viewfinder, a couple of cables which I have no idea what they do, strap, the small black case for the camera itself, lens wipers, instruction manuals for everything, and a bag to hold it all in...for a price so low you would never believe it: $110. Wow. And my aunt (who went with me to pick it up) says it's been very well kept and is a sweet deal. So now I'm all set. Just need film. :)

In other news, the novel proceeds apace through the more detailed plotting stages. I'm making a bunch of notes on the working outline I drew up, figuring out just how stuff is going to happen and finding better ways to build the characters and handle them in the midst of a complex plotline which has more than one hole in it. It's very exciting, to tell the truth.

Be seeing you,
Steven
