The Dreamscape Universe of An Aspiring Scribe

"One describes a tale best by telling the tale. You see? The way one describes a story, to oneself or to the world, is by telling the story. It is a balancing act and it is a dream. The more accurate the map, the more it resembles the territory. The most accurate map possible would be the territory, and thus would be perfectly accurate and perfectly useless. The tale is the map that is the territory." --Neil Gaiman, 'American Gods'

Belated Birthday Posting

I would have posted something on Thursday, but I wanted to wait and write about my party that evening; then I was tired and didn't want to type. And I would have posted yesterday except I had an exam (on FRIDAY THE 13TH!!!!!) and it sort of slipped my mind. So I write today to wish myself a happy birthday.

Lame.

Anyways, we had a great time on Thursday. Mom woke me up in the morning with my birthday present (The Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers--The Complete Recordings!) and I spent the day listening to it while I puttered around and did nothing in particular beyond firmly decide that I'd like to take up photography as a hobby. I have no idea how I'm going to afford a camera without either a pretty large birthday cheque or a job, but whatever. Friends came over at about 7pm for appetizers and cake. They pitched in for a Chapters giftcard for me (thanks guys!) and my buddy Marcus threw in a couple of Mel Brooks movies that I hadn't seen yet (Blazing Saddles and Robin Hood: Men In Tights) plus a Cineplex Odeon giftcard from him and Caitlin...I think; I'm not sure exactly what came from who, except the DVDs were definitely from Marcus. Anyhoo, we had a blast. And the family celebration is yet to come; that's happening at lunch tomorrow.

21 doesn't really feel all that different from being 20. Oh well. Maybe next year it will:)

Be seeing you,
Steven
