The Dreamscape Universe of An Aspiring Scribe

"One describes a tale best by telling the tale. You see? The way one describes a story, to oneself or to the world, is by telling the story. It is a balancing act and it is a dream. The more accurate the map, the more it resembles the territory. The most accurate map possible would be the territory, and thus would be perfectly accurate and perfectly useless. The tale is the map that is the territory." --Neil Gaiman, 'American Gods'

Time Magazine's Person of The Year...

Every year, Time Magazine has selected one person who "for better or worse, has most influenced events in the preceding year." Former titleholders include Richard Nixon, Joseph Stalin (twice), George W. Bush (also twice), and Adolf Hitler (the one time, I'm afraid. Also, I'm sure some nice guys have been picked, but everybody already knows they've been picked). Time has announced their pick for the AD 2006. And it's....

YOU

Yes, you. And me. And everyone else on the planet. Because we just haven't done enough the past 6,000 years or so. But now we're getting noticed. Now we can join the ranks of such great individuals as those above--and many more besides. So give yourself a pat on the back, treat yourself to an eggnog. And be sure and thank all the little people you stepped on to make it (while they're up on the podium with you).

Be seeing you,
Steven
